SALLISAW, Okla. — A Sallisaw man found guilty of killing his father has been sentenced to four years in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma (USAO EDOK).
Troy Allen Stevenson, 23, was sentenced to 48 months in prison for involuntary manslaughter in Indian County.
Stevenson went to trial last year and was found guilty of by a federal jury on Oct. 13, 2022.
A release from Department of Justice (DOJ) says that an investigation was conducted by the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office, the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The release says that on July 17, 2021, after being assaulted by his estranged father, Stevenson responded with excessive force, shooting and killing him.
The crime took place in Sequoyah County within the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation Reservation.
