SPRINGDALE, Ark. — A 58-year-old Springdale man was arrested on June 28 for rape, kidnapping, and burglary, according to Washington County's detention intake report.
On June 26, a report was made to the Springdale Police Department (SPD) accusing Victor Mendez-Diaz of raping and threatening the victim if they ever contacted the police.

According to an arrest affidavit, he raped the victim about six times beginning in April 2024. The victim reportedly told Mendez-Diaz "No." In one of the incidents, Mendez-Diaz allegedly forced the victim into a room and locked the door when they tried to leave.
The affidavit says Springdale detectives saw text messages from Menendez-Diaz apologizing for the rapes and saying, "It would have only been about 4 times."
Mendez-Diaz's bond was set at $250,000.
