SPRINGDALE, Ark. — The Springdale Police Department (SPD) has identified the officer who was allegedly involved in a road rage incident while off duty.
On March 6, SPD officials received a report of a road rage incident. SPD later learned, it involved Sergeant Garry Jones, who was off duty at the time. SPD made the decision to place Jones on administrative leave and opened an investigation. According to the release, Sergeant Jones "resigned from the department" during the investigation.
SPD initially requested that the Washington County Sheriff's Office investigate the incident to determine if criminal charges should be pursued. That investigation is now completed and has been turned over to the Washington County Prosecutor's Office "for review," according to SPD.
Matt Ray with SPD told 5NEWS that Jones had been with the department for 21 years and was assigned to patrol.
