One arrested after Springdale hit and run injures student, police say

SPD confirmed the crash happened near Lakeside Junior High and left the unnamed student with non-life-threatening injuries.

SPRINGDALE, Ark. — On the morning of Sept. 20, a student in Springdale was on their way to school when they were hit by a car that drove off, according to the Springdale Police Department (SPD).

SPD confirmed the crash happened around 8:30 a.m. near Lakeside Junior High and left the unnamed student with non-life-threatening injuries.

Although the car that allegedly hit the student drove off, a School Resource Officer was able to locate the car and driver with the assistance of witnesses and photos of the license plate and driver.

The driver, 47-year-old Rosaura Cintora-Silva, was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail, according to SPD reports. She faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to yield to pedestrians.

Before she was arrested, Cintora-Silva reportedly told police after she accidentally hit the student, she rolled down her window and asked them if they needed help, but they said no before running off. The family has privately reached out to 5NEWS to dispute this, saying the student did not deny help or run off.
