SPRINGDALE, Ark. — A 20-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to stabbing a man to death in Springdale in 2023, according to Washington County Prosecutor Mieka Hatcher.

On Oct. 22, 2024, Mammi Ejmi pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the death of Joshua Garcia.

Judge Mark Lindsay sentenced Ejmi to 25 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections with 10 years suspended.

On Jan. 10, 2023, police arrived at the Select Suites in Springdale on Dixie Industrial Drive after the 911 caller said a man had been stabbed.

According to officials, officers arrived to find Garcia with a stab wound to his chest along with another person in the room. Garcia later died after being transported to a nearby hospital.

Ejmi later turned herself in after the fatal incident.

Springdale police Capt. Jeff Taylor identified the other person in the room as Make Lanje. She faces a tampering with physical evidence charge.

Hatcher said Lanje failed to appear in court for her charge in connection with the case, and an arrest warrant will be issued for her.
