EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. — A suspect is in custody after multiple bomb threats were made across Northwest Arkansas on Jan. 4.
According to a release from the Eureka Springs Police Department (ESPD), police received a call at 10:05 a.m. from an unknown male calling in a bomb threat to the Basin Park Hotel and the Crescent Hotel.
The phone number was registered to a Twilio account, according to the release. Officers from the Berryville Police Department (BPD), the Green Forest Police Department (GFPD) and the Carroll County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) responded to the hotels and found no bombs or explosive devices.
Evacuations and safety protocols were taken through the city, ESPD said.
At around 10:07 a.m., the Fayetteville Police Department (FPD) received a call from an unknown number making a bomb threat. The phone call was discovered to have come from Twilio, an online messaging tool. Several officers responded to Fayetteville High School and found no bombs or explosives, the release said.
At around 10:22 a.m., the FBI field office in Little Rock contacted FPD and said a male had called claiming there were ten subjects armed with guns and in masks at the Arvest Bank on the Fayetteville Square. Police responded and found no evidence of a robbery.
The calls were traced back to a single source, a Eureka Springs man that multiple police departments were already aware of from previous interactions.
At around 11:30 a.m., multiple officers responded to the man's home. He had barricaded himself inside the residence and was speaking to officers through a window, according to the release.
The man was eventually taken into custody.
