Third arrest made in deadly Lake Fayetteville shooting

Jose Casillas, 20, of Tontitown, was booked into the Washington County Jail on March 20.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A third arrest has been made in connection to a shooting at Lake Fayetteville that left 18-year-old Christian Alexander Rodriguez-Barroso dead, according to a Washington County arrest report.

Jose Luis Casillas, 20, of Tontitown, was booked into the Washington County Jail on March 20, according to the arrest report.

Casillas is accused of terroristic threatening, unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, aggravated assault, and being in concert with two or more people to commit a violent crime, the report said.

Officers were dispatched to the Lake Fayetteville Environmental Studies Center after 11 p.m. on Feb. 15 and found Rodriguez-Barroso dead and four others injured with gunshot wounds, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Video of the shooting showed a large number of cars and people gathering near the lake for a fight, police said. At some point during the fight, people can be seen running away to their cars as guns are fired. According to the arrest report, witnesses told police that before the physical fight took place Casillas was "yelling at them while pointing an AR-15 style gun at their faces." Casillas allegedly threatened them saying "he would kill them one by one while pointing a gun at them."

Casillas admitted to police that he had an AR-15 style pistol at the lake during the shooting and "fired his gun toward a vehicle that was shooting at him." When Casillas was shooting at the the vehicle, the vehicle he was in hit a bump causing him to drop the AR-15, the release said.

The report states Casillas has a court hearing scheduled for April 17 in Washington County and is being held on a $750,000 bond.

Two other arrests have previously been made in this case.

Gilberto Gordillo, 19, was booked into the Washington County Jail on Feb. 21 on one count of capital murder and four counts of attempted murder. He has since pleaded not guilty and has received a trial date of Nov. 4 this year.

Alberto Esteban-Cruz, 21, was arrested on March 15 for attempted murder, terroristic act, and engaging in violent criminal group activity.
