Trials for Cave Springs doctor accused of sexual assault delayed to next year

Dr. Adam Maass was booked into the Benton County jail after several sexual assault complaints were filed against him.

CAVE SPRINGS, Ark. — The trials for a former Cave Springs doctor who is accused of sexual assault in Washington and Benton Counties have been delayed to next year, according to  Prosecuting Attorney, Joshua Robinson.

Adam Maass is accused of sexually assaulting multiple women during exams. The accusations include an allegation of Maass touching a woman's breast without her consent during a medical exam in 2021. The woman's medical records of the visit allegedly did not mention a documented breast exam by Maass, officials said.

Authorities report at least 10 other women who reported similar experiences with Maass. Maass was arrested on June 8, 2022, and booked into Benton County Jail where he is facing second-degree sexual assault charges.

Court records show both Maass' attorney, Shane Wilkinson, and Robinson asked for more time. Court documents say the Benton County trial delay is to:

  • Allow for full discovery
  • Review materials
  • Submit names and reports of expert witnesses

Court records show the Benton County trial was originally scheduled for Dec. 12, 2023, but has now been moved to May 2024.

5NEWS reached out to Washington County about the reasons for delaying the trial. The trial was originally scheduled for Sept. 11 and has now been moved to Feb. 2024, according to court records.
