FORT SMITH, Ark. — Two men arrested in Fort Smith have been sentenced to prison for charges relating to fentanyl, according to a June 7 release from the Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD).
Orlando Salas was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia, receiving a sentence of 32 years.
Devonta Hoes was arrested and charged on Feb. 6 with delivering fentanyl while possessing guns and other drugs, as well as tampering with evidence. Hoes pled guilty to the charges and was given a sentence totaling 34 years.
FSPD cites 73,800 overdose deaths as being caused by fentanyl in 2022 nationwide, a 750% increase since 2015.
