SHERMAN, Tx. (KFSM) — Search crews in Sherman, Texas, have found the body of a missing Fayetteville woman several miles away from where her husband was killed in a car crash on Saturday, January 11.
According to the Sherman Police Department, Evan and Sarah Nuessner were traveling from Fayetteville to McKinney, Texas, but failed to arrive. Police received a welfare check call about the couple who were last known to be going through Sherman in a gray Ford Edge the previous night.
On Saturday (Jan. 11) at 11 a.m., police were alerted about a car crashed in a culvert on North Highway 75 near Washington Street in Sherman that matched the description of the vehicle the couple was traveling in.
When officers arrived on the scene, the body of Evan Nuessner was located inside the crashed car, but Sarah was not found.
Local authorites then went on a large scale recovery effort to find Sarah.
Her body was located Sunday (Jan. 12) morning at 11:00 a.m. by search crews in Post Oak Creek several miles downstream from the location of the crash.
Details surrounding the incident and the cause of the accident are under investigation.
There are two memorial services set up, one in Texas and one in Fayetteville.
The Fayetteville memorial is set for Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. at Stone Chapel at MattLane Farm.
Instead of flowers, the family is asking memorial goers to bring a perennial plant or small shrub that will be planted in a memorial garden at a later date to honor the young couple.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help with memorial expenses.
