Sebastian County Fair & Rodeo returns | What to know

GREENWOOD, Ark. — The 111th edition of the Sebastian County Fair and Rodeo returns to Greenwood this month.

According to its website, the Sebastian County Fair Association is a nonprofit organization "dedicated to educational pursuits in agriculture and the arts."

The fair starts Tuesday, Aug. 20th, at 5 p.m., and admission is $1. The following days, admission will be $4 for children and $7 for adults. The fair operates with daily armbands, which are priced at $25 each.

The Junior Livestock will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 8 a.m. The fair will host 90 exhibitors this year, "which is the largest group of kids in the last few years," with over 200 animals, the release said. 

The Livestock Auction will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 6 p.m. Additionally, the fair announced it will have an agricultural mechanics show "which gives youth an opportunity to show off their mechanical skills," the release said. This includes trailers, storage buildings, and more. 

The release said the exhibit will have over 1,000 fine arts, including: 

  • photography
  • arts and crafts
  • canned goods 
  • vegetables

School Days will be Thursday, Aug. 22, and Friday, Aug. 23. Admission for schools and home-schooled students will be free on those days from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. On these days, students will have access to the livestock and exhibit hall. The Fort Smith Police Scribble Car, Smokey the Bear, Old McDonald's Farm, and a butterfly encounter will be there. To sign up for this event, click here.

The rodeo will feature Bulls & Broncs on Friday night and Mutton Bustin & Ranch Rodeo on Saturday evening.

Thursday, Aug. 22: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. 

Friday, Aug. 23:  5 p.m. to 10 p.m. 

Saturday, Aug. 24: 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
