ADH: Boil order lifted in Johnson County

The boil order was issued after "unknown leaks"

JOHNSON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — Update: The boil order was lifted on Jan. 26.

Original story:

A boil order is in effect in Johnson County after recent freezing weather caused "unknown leaks," according to the Arkansas Department of Health.

Officials with Horsehead Water Users Association (HWUA) initially issued a boil order on Jan. 18 that affected customers in certain areas. A second precautionary boil order was then issued to include all of their customers "until further notice."

"Your drinking water and water to cook with should be boiled briskly for 1 minute," said HWUA on Facebook.

HWA officials said the boil order will remain until the "bacteriological report comes back from the state." This can take 7-10 days according to HWA.
