FORT SMITH, Ark. — Antioch for Youth and Family will be hosting a turkey giveaway on Friday, Nov. 12 at Kay Rodgers Park.

The turkeys will be given to families in need of holiday food assistance from 10 a.m. to noon.

Over 10,000 people will receive "all the fixin's" for a traditional and memorable holiday meal. Frozen turkeys, additional protein entrees, fruits, vegetables, eggs and milk along with pantry staples will be provided so that no families in the River Valley have to go without a holiday meal. Each family will receive food products with a retail value of roughly $307.40.

This year the service will be limited to two families per vehicle and one turkey per household. If two families are in the same vehicle to receive a turkey, an ID from a member of each family will be required to check that the addresses are different.

No exceptions can be made for this rule.

Due to the continued pandemic, the event will take place at Kay Rodgers Park, located at 4400 Midland Blvd., as a drive-thru contactless event for the second year in a row.

A total of 160,000 pounds of food is estimated to be distributed during the event at a value of $345,800. Over the course of the lifetime of this Thanksgiving event, food valued at over $3.5 million has been provided to the community.

Antioch recommends those with extraordinary circumstances contact the pantry at 479-459-0669.

Donations to support this event and upcoming Christmas food assistance efforts may be made by mail to Antioch for Youth & Family, P O Box 1571, Fort Smith AR 72902-1571 or online at the organization's website.
