Arkansas Department of Transportation launches performance dashboard

The dashboard aims to show the public conditions of its roadways, bridges, construction sites, and safety data.

ARKANSAS, USA — The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) has launched an interactive transportation dashboard for travelers.

The dashboard provides information about pavement conditions across the state, the status of construction jobs, safety data, and other metrics under its “Transportation Performance” umbrella.

On its page, "Transportation Performance at a Glance" shows general information about bridge conditions, interstate conditions, and national highway condition ratings statewide. It also includes the latest roadway safety data and an interactive map of construction jobs across the state.

"Nationwide, not just here in Arkansas, that the interest in infrastructure is huge, maybe I don't want to say it's at a peak, but it's certainly very, very high," said ARDOT spokesperson Dave Parker.

Parker explained that the dashboard was created after a legislative subcommittee made efficiency requests to the Department of Transportation. Parker says the dashboard will show how taxpayer money is spent and how the department is being held accountable.

"If you want to know about any construction project or bridge situation, whether it's in poor fair or good condition, anything like that, just go to that dashboard it is there for you," Parker said.

“These ratings are determined using federal standards,” said ARDOT Director Lorie Tudor in a release. “Seventy-five percent of our budget goes toward taking care of the roads we already have. We’re proud of our pavement preservation efforts across the state and are excited to have a tool that shares where we stand in that continuous effort.”

Director Tudor added that they hope to add features to the dashboard over time. To learn more about the dashboard and how to navigate it, click here. You can visit the Transportation Performance Dashboard via ARDOT's website.
