Arkansas National Guard sends crew to assist ahead of Hurricane Milton

On Tuesday, the Arkansas National Guard sent a five-soldier Black Hawk crew to assist ahead of Hurricane Milton making landfall.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — As Hurricane Milton is set to make landfall near the Tampa Bay area off the coast of Florida late on Wednesday night or early on Thursday morning, crews from several parts of the country have already been sent to help.

Over the weekend, several Arkansas crew members with MEMS were deployed to Florida to assist ahead of Milton making landfall.

On Tuesday, the Arkansas National Guard also sent a five-soldier HH-60M Black Hawk crew so that they can help in hoisting and airlifting support after Hurricane Milton passes.

Their crew consists of two pilots, two crew chiefs, and a medic who are all staying in the Florida panhandle overnight before they are directed to their next location by the Florida National Guard.

They are on an 11-day mission to provide aid to ground-based search-and-rescue teams.
