Arkansas Public Theatre announces rescheduled dates for 'Rent'

Although the Victory Theater will still be closed until further notice, the show must go on.

ROGERS, Ark. — The Arkansas Public Theatre (APT) announced the previously postponed production of "Rent" will be rescheduled for August.

APT originally announced the productions of "Rent" and "Kinky Boots" were postponed due to widespread damage to the community from the Memorial Day weekend storms.

"Rent" will play for one weekend at The Medium: A Place to Create at 214 S Main St. in Springdale.

Showtimes

  • Thursday, August 8 at 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 10 at 2 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 11 at 2 p.m.

The Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical is about a group of young artists trying to survive and create a life for themselves in New York City while enduring the obstacles of poverty, loss, and the AIDS epidemic.

Much of the cast for the APT production are debuting artists who will bring a new life to the musical that premiered in 1996.

"The cast and crew are excited to share this production and its message with audiences across NWA," Lisa Turpin, director of operations for APT, said. "We’re grateful to the staff of The Medium and our cast and crew for their flexibility in making these arrangements."

Those who have already purchased tickets as a single-show patron or a season ticket holder will receive updated seat assignments. Once all current ticket holders receive their seat assignment, ticket sales will resume.

Tickets will range from $55 to $65. Student tickets will be $25. Tickets will be available on APT's website

"APT’s other upcoming productions will remain postponed, and details regarding those productions will be communicated as they become available."
