ROGERS, Ark. — Arkansas Public Theatre (APT) has announced that it will soon be going on hiatus for the foreseeable future as the group's headquarters, Victory Theater in Rogers, is undergoing restoration.
APT took to social media to make the announcement on Nov. 19, sharing that the upcoming "A Christmas Story" slated for December will be the group's last before the pause.
"Beginning in January 2025, all APT productions will be placed on hold while the Victory Theater undergoes restoration to return to full operating condition," the group said. "Only 2025 productions will be impacted as we prioritize returning to our historic home for APT's long-term health and future."
Victory Theater, which is owned by the City of Rogers, was affected by tornadoes and storms that wracked the region on May 26 this year.
APT has most recently made a temporary home in The Medium in Springdale, putting on multiple productions, some of which were impacted or delayed by the storms.
"Arkansas Public Theatre has worked tirelessly to keep live theater alive, relocating three productions to The Medium in Springdale to create performance opportunities for our community," APT said.
A post from the group explained that they are confident that Victory Theater will continue serving as a "beacon of culture, creativity, and hope in Downtown Rogers."
APT assured that city administrators, building managers, remediation companies, and insurance providers are working to restore the theater.
A Christmas Story tickets will go on sale on Nov. 22.
