SEBASTIAN COUNTY, Ark. — The death of a Sebastian County inmate earlier this week has prompted an investigation from Arkansas State Police (ASP).

A release from the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) said that on Oct. 30 a deputy was making routine checks at the Adult Detention Center when he observed an inmate having a medical emergency.

Medical staff responded and performed live saving measures. The inmate was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead an hour later, the release said.

ASP has since been investigating the death and Sebastian County Criminal Investigation Division is performing an internal investigation.

The inmate has been identified as Larry Schuster, 65, of Muldrow, Oklahoma.
