Arkansas State Police arrests man trafficking over 100 pounds of meth and fentanyl

LONDON, ARKANSAS, Ark. — On Monday, August 26, Arkansas State Police arrested an Alabama man trafficking over 100 pounds of meth and fentanyl worth $4.8 million.

According to reports, troopers stopped a rented 2024 Jeep Compass on I-40 eastbound at the 78-mile marker in Pope County for a traffic violation.

A search of the SUV revealed a large duffle bag filled with 88 bundles of methamphetamine weighing over 100 pounds, a suitcase in the trunk, and a backpack containing two pounds of fentanyl pills and a plastic bag of marijuana.

Officials confirmed that the estimated street value of the illegal narcotics added up to $4.8 million.

The driver was identified as 52-year-old Anthony Reese of Midfield, Alabama. He was transported to the Pope County Detention Center and booked on felony charges of trafficking a controlled substance, trafficking fentanyl, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
