FORT SMITH, Ark. — Baptist Health in Fort Smith confirmed around 25 employees will be affected by the hospital's plan to consolidate the operations of the ambulatory surgery center.

"We understand the impact of this decision and are committed to supporting the approximately 25 employees affected through this transition," Jeff Carrier, region president of Baptist Health Fort Smith and Van Buren said. "It is our hope that many, if not all, of these employees would fill other needed positions within Baptist Health."

The operations of the ambulatory surgery center will be integrated into the main hospital operating rooms, according to Carrier.

"This consolidation aims to enhance our service efficiency while maintaining our commitment to delivering exceptional patient care," Carrier said.

Carrier said Baptist Health is working with patients and care providers to accomplish a smooth transition for future procedures.
