Baptist Health - Fort Smith installs rooftop garden to address patient food insecurity

The rooftop garden will be "the first of its kind" in Arkansas.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — Baptist Health Fort Smith announced a new rooftop garden at its fitness center to address patient food insecurity.

Baptist says the garden will produce fruits and vegetables. The rooftop garden will be "the first of its kind" in Arkansas and "one of 25" in the nation, Baptist says. 

The Marvin Altman Fitness Center is located at 810 Lexington Ave. 

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and check presentation will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17.
