FORT SMITH, Ark. — A barge ran aground in the Fort Smith area on Dec. 5.
The incident occurred on the Arkansas River, mile marker 296, between Van Buren and Fort Smith.
Marty Shell, president of Five Rivers Distribution, told 5NEWS that the captain notified the Coast Guard as well as Lock and Dam 13.
Shell said the barge belongs to Marquette Transport of Paducah, Kentucky.
