Bella Vista police to get bodycams for the first time after city council vote

The city says the under $790,000 deal will include 40 bodycams, 40 dashcams, and 15 tasers, among other equipment.

BELLA VISTA, Ark. — The Bella Vista City Council has approved the purchase of bodycams for the local police department, a first for the city.

Bella Vista Communications Director Cassi Lapp said the city looks forward to the new equipment, "Bella Vista has had dashcams for years, but this adds another layer of security and protection for both the police and the community" they serve.

The just under $790,000 purchase will include 40 bodycams, 40 new dashcams, and 15 new tasers, Lapp said.

Bella Vista is looking to have the bodycam program fully operational in the first quarter of 2024, with authorities trained on the other new equipment by June 2024.
