$3.7 million in disaster relief approved by FEMA after Memorial Day Weekend tornadoes

The City of Rogers says FEMA has approved nearly 1,000 individual assistance applications.

ROGERS, Ark. — The City of Rogers announced a storm recovery update nearly a month after severe storms and multiple tornadoes destroyed many areas in Benton County on the early morning of Sunday, May 26.

The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed that at least seven tornadoes hit Benton County—two in Decatur, two in Centerton, one in Rogers, one in War Eagle, and one in Clifty, which crossed over into Madison County.

The Rogers Police Department estimated $33 million in damages to city property caused by the tornado.

In total, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved 991 individual assistance applications and approved $3.7 million in individual and household program funds, according to the June 21 announcement from the City of Rogers.

That amount is coming from all areas where a disaster emergency was declared by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
