BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The City of Bentonville announced Feb. 22 that it had acquired a $300,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics, which it says will go toward improvements.
"This grant is a testament to the collaborative efforts dedicated to propelling the development of Bentonville Municipal Airport at Thaden Field forward," the airport said in a release.
"We are incredibly grateful to the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics for their generous support with a $300,000 grant, which marks a pivotal step in our ongoing efforts to enhance the Bentonville Municipal Airport at Thaden Field. This project not only signifies our commitment to improving our facilities but also to fostering growth and accessibility within our aviation community," said Debbie Griffin, Director of Administration and Airport Manager.
The money will be set aside for the construction of a hangar access road, which the airport says will be "strategically positioned on the western perimeter of the airport."
"This infrastructure enhancement is poised to facilitate seamless access to six new hangars currently in the pipeline for development, streamlining operations and bolstering the airport's capacity for growth," a release from the airport said.
The release says that the airport has received a total of $1.2 million in state grants over the past two years, adding that the continuous influx of funds is a testament to the city's "dedication to elevating the standards of service and infrastructure at Bentonville Municipal Airport."
"The partnerships and work being done at the municipal airport continue to add to the economic well-being of our community, reinforcing our status as a hub of innovation and progress in the region," Griffin said.
"The City of Bentonville extends its appreciation to the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics for their support and reaffirms its commitment to advancing the accessibility, efficiency, and overall excellence of Bentonville Municipal Airport at Thaden Field," the release added.
