BENTONVILLE, Ark. — On Friday, Oct. 18, The Best Friends Animal Society's Pet Resource Center in Bentonville is hosting its first-ever "Long Stay Soirée" in an effort to bring attention to some of the adoptable pets that have stayed with them for an extended period.

Showcasing almost a dozen animals that have spent a little longer than usual in the center, the free event will see at least 10 dogs (and one cat) "dressed to the nines and ready to strut their stuff for the big night," said Natalie Perkins with Best Friends.

Light refreshments will be served as the would-be forever-pets make their "orange carpet debut" alongside an announcer explaining what makes them so special. After the runway, visitors can meet any critters that catch their eye to learn about their behavior and feel out if they could be a good fit.

Opened in 2023 off Melissa Drive, the Best Friends Pet Resource Center in Bentonville is a one-stop shop for local pet needs— offering resources, services, and special events to help find forever homes for animals in need.

Perkins describes the center as "a destination where community members can adopt a new best friend, find a pet to foster, gain access to resources needed for their own pets, or simply grab a cup of coffee at Third Space and hang out."

Best Friends runs the country's largest no-kill animal sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, and works with a network of other shelters and communities nationwide, according to Perkins.
