BENTONVILLE, Ark. — A Bentonville man accused of writing threatening lyrics for his rap songs has pleaded no contest and been sentenced.

Reese Sullivan was arrested in 2023 for allegedly threatening to shoot or bomb children, the president, his grandmother, churches, and specific racial groups in his music.

Sullivan originally pleaded not guilty but changed his plea on Sept. 13.

According to court documents, the 21-year-old pleaded no contest to threatening a fire or bombing, a Class A misdemeanor. Sullivan is ordered to pay $690 in fees and is sentenced to 12 months of state-supervised probation.

As a condition of his sentence, Sullivan is required to be evaluated at Ozark Guidance Center or a similar facility for mental health issues. He must also allow inspection of his devices upon law enforcement request.

In an arrest affidavit, the Bentonville Police Department (BPD) said the FBI analyzed nine songs by Sullivan.

The FBI found "statements and threats" that spoke about killing specific racial groups, bombing churches, killing and sexually assaulting children, along with "shooting up his school because he was bullied," the affidavit said.

According to court documents, the FBI also found songs with lyrics involving killing his grandmother, the president, and the Senate. Despite searching his home, the FBI did not find any weapons or explosives.

Sullivan reportedly told BPD that in his rap videos, he uses a "character or persona."
