BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The famous "Big Banana Car" is making pit stops across Northwest Arkansas this week.
Self-described as the "world's only motorized banana," the vehicle was built by Steve Braithwaite and a group of friends over a two-and-a-half-year period beginning in 2009, according to the car's website.
The banana car will be giving rides at The Bend in Bentonville on May 4 and 5, weather permitting.
Rules of the ride, per the Big Banana Car social media:
- Pay what works for you
- Bring car seats if necessary
- Bring your own banana to eat as you cruise around town
The car is made from a 1993 Ford truck. The build started in Bowling Green, Ohio, and was finished in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. It's listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's longest custom banana car.
The car's website said, "It has been on the road since 2011 and has driven coast to coast and north to south."
