FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Big Chicken in Fayetteville is closing and reopening under a new name and brand.

The chicken restaurant, which celebrated its grand opening in January this year, will now be C-Mac's.

Chris McMillan, the franchisee, told 5NEWS there was nothing negative about Big Chicken, they're just going with their "in-house brand."

McMillan said they're retaining their staff and plan to reopen as C-Mac's on Aug. 19.

A sign on the front door of Big Chicken in Fayetteville said "It is with a heavy heart to announce this location is currently closed for remodel and rebranding. C-Mac's Fayetteville will be opening soon. Come back by and check us out."

The sign says that a preview of the menu can be found on Tontitown C-Mac's Facebook or in person at 7420 W Sunset Ave. Springdale.

Big Chicken, a restaurant chain backed by professional basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal, opened on MLK Jr. Boulevard on Jan. 3.

McMillan said they are still deciding whether the Springdale locations will also reopen as C-Mac's locations.
