ARKANSAS, USA — Black Hills Energy customers may see an increase in their bill due to a charge called the weather normalization adjustment. According to the Black Hills Energy website, the charge reduces the effect of abnormally cold or warm weather.
The adjustments are made to bills between Nov. 1 and April 30 and are based on weather conditions during the billing cycle.
Black Hills Energy said the abnormally warm temperatures this November contributed to that charge.
A 5NEWS viewer reached out about his 2023 and 2024 Black Hills Energy bills. In November 2023, his weather normalization charge was $0.192411 CCF. This year, it's at $1.056933 CCF.
