FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — From construction on the Upper Ramble to businesses moving, a lot of changes are happening on Dickson Street in downtown Fayetteville.
"Cities change. Dickson Street is changing, and you can't find change on that level," Ducky Doolittle, the owner of Enchantasys, said.
Enchantasys, formerly known as Condom Sense, announced on their Facebook that they would be moving off of Dickson Street after being in the area for the last 28 years.
"Our building got sold, and we pretty abruptly were asked to sign a lease or release the space," explains Doolittle. "We made the decision that now is the time to move."
They’ll be moving onto North College Avenue right next to the UPS store with a new name, Enchantasys. However, the shop is not the only Dickson Street business experiencing change.
The live entertainment bar Smoke and Barrel just sold to new owners after 16 years of business. They plan to change the name of the bar by the end of the year and transition from live band performances to local and regional DJs.
Additionally, construction has come a long way for both the new civic plaza at the City’s Cultural Arts Corridor and the new parking deck right across from the Walton Arts Center.
The Downtown Fayetteville Coalition sent 5NEWS a statement about the developments:
“We are extremely excited for the completion of the Upper Ramble and the Downtown Arts Corridor. Downtown Fayetteville Coalition will be using this upcoming year to experiment with different types of programming and events within the Upper Ramble. We’re eager to see what activations will be successful and the community’s favorite ways to enjoy this new public space."
