FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Fayetteville City Council announced it will be addressing the city's housing crisis at next week's meeting.
The council said it has made the decision to declare a housing crisis. According to the release, some council members have "sponsored a landmark resolution," after three recent town hall events collected community input on "housing concerns."
The resolution recognizes the dire need of housing in the city and "sets the stage for decisive action," the council said.
Here are the "key elements" of the resolution:
1. The official declaration of Fayetteville's housing crisis.
2. Formation of a special housing task force to review and coordinate policy solutions for the city council.
3. Discussion about hiring a housing coordinator.
"This resolution is assertive in committing resources, services and support to address gaps in our city's housing," said Council Member, D'Andre Jones.
The next city council meeting will be held Tuesday, March 19 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
