BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO) has declared a blood emergency due to "an unusually high blood demand."

To make matters worse, the donation center said it has experienced "lower than expected participation" in its recent blood drives. CBCO said this is the lowest blood supply seen in over two years.

CBCO is the only local blood provider for area hospitals. A low blood supply can become a dangerous situation for patients needing lifesaving blood, CBCO said.

"Eligible donors are urged to give immediately!" CBCO said.

Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are encouraged. To make an appointment, click here or call 417-227-5006.

Blood drives dates:

  • Tuesday, July 23 at Fayetteville VA Medical Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Wednesday, July 24 at Northwest Health Physicians’ Specialty Hospital from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Wednesday, July 24 at Willow Creek Women’s Hospital from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 25 at Northwest Medical Center - Springdale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 25 at Pea Ridge City Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
