NEWTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — Update: As of 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 10, water had been restored to Compton Water Association (CWA) customers.
The CWA was urging customers to conserve water after days of issues that started with a boil order earlier this week.
According to a list of alerts on the CWA website, a boil order was issued on Nov. 5.
During an update on the morning of Nov. 7, CWA shared "bad news," explaining that the Fire Tower tank did not fill up overnight and that a leak was possible. By that afternoon, the association said that other issues and leaks had appeared.
"When one leak gets repaired, another surfaces. We hope to have enough water in Fire Tower and flowing to the lines by midnight," CWA said on Nov. 7, adding that when water does start flowing, customers may see brown water or air in their lines.
On the morning of Nov. 8, CWA said that water was being released from Fire Tower to Hwy 21, and from there hopefully to Bradshaw Mountain, but that the release needs to be slow to not overwhelm the pipes and water lines.
However, later that day, CWA issued another alert, this time urging customers to conserve.
"Listen up CWA users… it’s imperative that you conserve water usage. We’ve had to shut down the flow again because it takes a lot of water to fill the lines! So the tank is low again and we need to get a chance to fill it up before more can be released," CWA said.
If any customers still did not have water by Sunday morning, CWA asked them to call their emergency line at (870) 204-2139.
