CRAWFORD COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — The felony trial for Randal Worcester, the man seen being beaten in an arrest video (warning graphic content) from August 2022, has been delayed, according to court records.
The viral video shows Worcester being hit and held down by Arkansas authorities during a violent arrest.
Worcester was due in court for a status hearing on Dec. 27, 2023, but was postponed for a third time until July 2024, according to officials.
His attorney, Matthew Stombaugh, filed a motion on Dec. 19 asking for both the hearing and trial to be continued for 180 days.
Stombaugh said additional time is needed to advise the court on the status of Worcester’s medical records and for the FBI and Department of Justice to produce documents.
Judge McCune granted the request on Dec. 22, 2023, rescheduling the hearing to June 26, 2024, at 10 a.m. and the trial to July 29, 2024 at 9 a.m.
