Crystal Bridges, Momentary cancel events after severe weather damage | Here's what we know

Although Momentary officials have canceled most of their events this week due to severe weather damage, they said the John Legend concert will proceed as scheduled.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Northwest Arkansas staples have been forced to put some programming on hold and are considering further action after severe weather on May 26 significantly impacted the region.

"The recovery process will be slow and difficult for many, and Crystal Bridges and the Momentary are committed to offering a respite to those who seek comfort, safety, and community bonding," said one spokesperson for Crystal Bridges and the Momentary.

Although Crystal Bridges will remain open for regular summer business hours, its trails and the grounds of the Momentary sustained some damage from Sunday's storms.

Now, the art hubs are left to alter some programming for visitors' safety. Here's the latest.

The Momentary

The Momentary will be open to the public starting Thursday, May 30, when the Kristine Potter: Dark Waters will be on view.

Unfortunately, the Awol Erizku: Mystic Parallax exhibit and the Tower Bar will both be closed until further notice.

The Momentary announced they will offer 1,000 free John Legend concert tickets to first responders and those helping with Northwest Arkansas's disaster relief efforts.

Although the Momentary has canceled most of their events this week due to severe weather damage, they said the concert will proceed as scheduled.

In partnership with Cox Communications, the Momentary and Crystal Bridges said they are hoping to show a little gratitude to those who are helping Benton County's road to recovery by offering the free tickets.

They will be giving away the tickets on a first-come, first-serve basis to firefighters, law enforcement officers, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, 911 dispatchers, electrical and critical services workers.

"The Momentary has modified scheduled programming this week while cleanup efforts continue," Claybrook said.
