Van Buren man dies in motorcycle wreck in Fort Smith

According to the Fort Smith Police Department, the crash occurred just before midnight on Jacobs Avenue and Highway 271 South.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — A 2-vehicle crash on Tuesday, July 9, has left one person dead in Fort Smith, according to police. 

According to the Fort Smith Police Department, the crash happened at around 11:04 p.m. on Jacobs Avenue and Highway 271 South. 

The crash report states a 2015 Honda was headed southbound on Highway 271 while a 2015 Harley Davidson was headed north. When the Honda tried to turn onto Jacob Avenue, the motorcycle hit the Honda. The motorcycle driver was thrown from the vehicle and died, according to the report. 

The motorcycle driver was identified as 38-year-old Anthony Bailey of Van Buren. The driver of the Honda was not injured.

Officials had to close off the area for accident reconstruction crews.
