City of Fayetteville accepting public input for the Drake Street Trail project

The city will hold a public meeting on May 30 to discuss the trail project connecting North College Avenue to the Razorback Greenway at Gordon Long Park.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville will hold a public meeting on May 30 for residents to voice their opinions on the Drake Street Trail project, which will connect North College Avenue to the Razorback Greenway at Gordon Long Park.

Residents are encouraged to attend the public meeting at the Pendergraft Building at 2828 N. Mansfield Ave. on May 30 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. where "city staff and representatives from design consultant Crafton Tull will be on hand to answer questions and gather feedback from Fayetteville residents."

According to the city, there are nearly 2,000 residential units and more than 250 businesses within a half-mile distance from Drake without a direct connection to the Razorback Greenway.

To make a connection, the city plans to create a shared-use trail out of the existing right-of-way and land from Gordon Long Park.

The project will be funded through a portion of the Trail Improvement Projects bond and a $500,000 grant from the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission's Transportation Alternatives Program. However, the city didn't provide the total cost of the project.

For those unable to attend the meeting, residents can submit their input online until May 30.
