3.8-magnitude earthquake shakes area of Northeast Arkansas

The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management has confirmed that a 3.8-magnitude earthquake impacted an area near Etowah in Mississippi County.

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, Ark. — Update: Wednesday's earthquake was upgraded to a 3.8-magnitude. Authorities in Mississippi County stated that at this time, there are no reports of damage or human impact from this incident. 

Reports have confirmed that a 3.8-magnitude earthquake hit an area between Jonesboro and Blytheville in Mississippi County.

The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management has been in contact with local emergency services and is sending officials to the community closest to the earthquake, Etowah, to survey for damage and injuries.
