ARKANSAS, USA — A multi-day, multi-discipline race of biking, hiking, and paddling through the Ozark Mountains is set to make its return on April 8.
Teams of two to four people will have five days to complete the 350-mile Expedition Ozark race. According to Expedition's website, teams will need to use race disciplines of mountain biking, trekking, orienteering, pack rafting, caving, and ropes.
In its inaugural year in 2023, the Expedition Ozark race showcased the rivers, lakes, hiking trails, and biking trails in the region. This year's race plans to bring a new twist to the course.
"The 2024 version will highlight many of the same qualities by going even further into the Ozarks' backyard! Gravel and forest roads will connect National Forests and State Parks to quaint Ozark communities," the website says.
The teams arrived on April 6 and began registration on April 7. They will begin the race on Monday morning, which falls on the day of the solar eclipse.
Teams will have five days to endure the trails, rivers, and more of the Ozarks. They will wrap up on Saturday morning. On the evening of the race's completion, the participants will have a festival celebration.

On the same day the five-day race concludes, another eight-hour race will begin.
The Adventure Ozark race will include biking for 20-30 miles, trekking for 5-10 miles, and paddling for 3-8 miles. Expedition's website calls it the "perfect introductory event into the sport of adventure racing."
On April 13, teams will undergo race briefings at 7 a.m. and the race begins at 8 a.m. The race is set to end at 4 p.m. with an awards and festival celebration to follow.
