GARLAND COUNTY, Ark. — After "possible human remains" were found off Highway 7 North in Garland County, a little over a week ago, the mother of Amir Ellis, the Hot Springs man who disappeared eight months ago, and the Hot Springs Police Department have now confirmed that his body was found.
Jessica Ellis said investigators informed her that the remains that were found belonged to her son.
The Garland County Sheriff's Office sent out a press release where they shared that Eillis's remains were found around 1 p.m. on Dec. 16, as authorities were dispatched to Highway 7 North.
Authorities sent the remains for DNA testing and on Dec. 28, they confirmed the positive identification as that of 19-year-old Amir Ellis.
According to Hot Springs police, Ellis was kidnapped in May, and since then, three people have been arrested for their involvement in his disappearance.
During the last eight months, the Ellis family has grieved Amir's disappearance, his possible murder, and court trials as they searched through the woods.
The Garland County Sheriff's Office emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing and encourage anyone with information to contact them at 501-622-3660.
