FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville is once again seeking an artist for a new outdoor mural, this time for the city's Parks, Natural Resources, and Cultural Affairs Department building.
The building, called the Rock Street Annex, is located at 100 W Rock St.
The mural will celebrate Fayetteville's parks and how residents "gather, play, create, and enjoy natural spaces in our city," a release said.
Submissions for artists interested in the project are due Tuesday, Oct. 15.
"The selected artist will be responsible for designing and installing a mural that reflects the City of Fayetteville's dedication to its parks. This project will be a prominent public artwork that showcases the city's values of nature connection, recreation, gathering and placemaking, stewardship, and cultural pride," the release said.
The city said that the selected artist will be in charge of prepping the site, getting all materials, carrying "adequate general liability insurance of at least $500,000 per occurrence for the duration of the project," using professional grade equipment and paints, and keeping with the city's timeline.
Weather permitting, the installation will take place in the first quarter of 2025.
Four finalists will be chosen and receive a $500 stipend to complete a design. The artist selected as a winner from the design phase will then get a $20,000 stipend to install the mural, which must be approved by the Fayetteville Arts Council, the city said.
The mural will be 28 feet wide, 16.5 feet high on one end, and sloping to around 18 feet high on the other end.
