After years of discussion, Fayetteville City Council approves Dickson Street hotel

Officials say construction is expected to begin next year and the project should be completed in 2026.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — After two years of deliberation, tonight the council unanimously voted to approve the construction of the Dickson Street hotel.

Multiple members expressed their strong support of the plan and desire to move forward. Fayetteville Mayor Lionel Jordan concluded the short discussion before the vote saying, “I think this is going to be a real visionary future event for the city," emphasizing that people everywhere will stay in this hotel.

After tabling the decision multiple times, the council swiftly agreed to advance the hotel project this evening.

The owner of Reindl Properties, the developer overseeing the project says he wasn't sure how the meeting would go today, but is pleased with the outcome.

"Everybody seemed to be positive and on board. I think it's something that people are finally starting to wrap their brain around, that it's going to be exciting for the city," said Brian Reindl.

The hotel is planned to be built on the south side of a new civic plaza on Dickson Street. The space is going to be redeveloped as part of the next phase of the ramble.

Now that they've received the go-ahead, Owner Brian Reindl says there's a lot of work to be done.

"Putting the partners together, getting the proposals as far as the budget and how much things are going to cost the bill working with banks. So we've still got a little bit of work ahead of us and we got to make sure it's profitable for the investors," Reindl adds.

The council believes the project will be a huge benefit to Fayetteville as the city continues to see rapid growth.

Fayetteville city council member D'Andre Jones says, "This project is long overdue, and it's very much needed here in Fayetteville. With our community growing and with the number of visitors coming in, people are needing a place to stay."

Reindl says construction is expected to begin next year and the project should be completed in 2026.
