FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Fayetteville Police Chief Mike Reynolds announced the retirement of a former deputy chief of police several days after he was arrested for a DWI.
Bradley Renfro was pulled over on Wedington Drive by Arkansas State Police on Wednesday, June 26, for a defective headlight, according to the City of Fayetteville.
Officials said Renfro refused to "submit to a chemical test" and was arrested. He was placed on administrative leave following the arrest.
Chief Reynolds said Renfro's retirement was effective on July 5 in the following statement:
“Today, I announce the retirement of Deputy Chief of Police Brad Renfro which was effective Friday, July 5th, 2024. Deputy Chief Renfro served the Fayetteville Police Department and our community with dedication and distinction for over 28 years, and I am grateful for his unwavering commitment and leadership. The men and women of the Fayetteville Police Department thank Deputy Chief Renfro for his service and wish him well in his retirement.
As I mentioned last week, Deputy Chief Renfro’s arrest for Driving While Intoxicated on June 27th was a disappointment, and this incident is not reflective of the values and standards of the Fayetteville Police Department. We are committed to maintaining the highest level of transparency, integrity, and accountability.”
On July 8, FPD announced Renfro's replacement, Tad Scott.
Scott first began his career as an officer with FPD in 1995 and has since been the commander of the department's Emergency Response Team, Patrol Division Captain, and Captain of the Criminal Investigations Division.
