FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Deputy Chief Jamie Fields completed 29 years of service with the Fayetteville Police Department (FPD) on Dec. 22.
Fields' retirement comes after a long journey with FPD. Although she had served on the force for 29 years, she has a total of 33 years under her belt as a Fayetteville employee.
Before Fields was hired as a police officer in 1994, she began her career with the department as a dispatcher.
Once she was hired onto the force, she served in the department in several positions. including as a patrol officer, bike patrol officer, detective, and a member of the crisis negotiation team.
By 2002, Fields was promoted to her first—of many—supervisory rank of sergeant where she supervised the morning shift patrol and the Special Events Division. Just two years later, she was promoted to the rank of lieutenant supervising patrol shift and the Criminal Investigation Division.
Nearly a decade later, in 2012, Fields transferred to police administration and supervised the Office of Professional Standards, Training Division, Community-Oriented Policing Division, Warrant Division, and FPD's national accreditation process through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
Fields was promoted to the rank of captain in 2013 and managed administrative duties of FPD.
According to a Facebook post honoring Fields, the department said among her administrative duties, Fields "was instrumental in testing and implementing a new records management system for the organization."
In 2017, Fields was assigned to the Patrol Division.
Fields received her final promotion in October 2019 when she was named deputy chief.
