FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Stephen Carr, the Fayetteville police officer who was shot and killed in 2019, is being honored by the Fayetteville Police Department (FPD) on the fourth anniversary of his death.
Carr was shot and killed on Dec. 7, 2019, while on duty. He was sitting in his police cruiser outside the Fayetteville police department while waiting to go on his nightly patrol on Dickson Street.
"Four years have gone by, but the moment the Fayetteville Police Department lost Officer Stephen Carr will always feel like yesterday to those of us who experienced it. Words could never describe the impact of this loss, but our fallen brother will always be in our hearts," a Facebook post from FPD said.
The post says that FPD will be honoring Carr with a moment of silence at 9:41 p.m., his time of death.
"Officer Carr impacted everyone he met with his kindness, humor, and love. He was a son, brother, protector, and friend. Tonight at 9:41 p.m. we will honor his memory, and hope you find your own way to do so as well," the post said.
Since his death, Carr has been honored with a memorial statue and a stretch of Porter Road being renamed Officer Stephen Carr Boulevard.
