FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville announced the construction of new pickleball courts at Wilson Park on Monday, a long-awaited answer to many enthusiasts in the area as the sport gains popularity.
There will be six new pickleball courts in total, the city said. They will take the place of existing junior courts and the adjoining tennis court.
Wilson Park's four other tennis courts will also be renovated and include new surfacing and practice walls. Those renovations are only expected to take six weeks, while the full construction of the new pickleball courts are expected to be finished by the fall.
Fayetteville said in the announcement they plans to add four pickleball courts at Underwood Park and six courts at Walker Park in the future.
Wilson Park's basketball courts will also be renovated to have lights during this project, the city said.
