Fayetteville population hit above 100k in 2023, according to Census data

Fayetteville had 101,680 residents in 2023, a 2% increase from the 99,688 in 2022.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — New Census data says that the population in the City of Fayetteville has topped 100,000 for the first time.

Fayetteville had 101,680 residents in 2023, a 2% increase from the 99,688 in 2022.

Fayetteville joins Yuma, Arizona, Palm Coast, Florida, and Suffolk, Virgina, as one of four cities in the U.S. to cross the 100,000-population mark in 2023.

The new data comes just a few months after the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission (NWARPC) released a project expecting the combined populations of Washington and Benton counties to reach 1 million by 2050.

By the year 2050, Benton County is projected to have a population of 603,977 and Washington County is projected to have 420,487 residents, totaling 1,024,464 people.

NWARPC said that the 2010 Census data was used in making the projections.
