Winter weather suspends Fayetteville's Tuesday waste collection

Residential services have been suspended and commercial services have been delayed because of potential slick road conditions from Sunday's snowfall.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville announced it will suspend recycling and trash collection again for residential services and delay pickup for commercial services on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

Residential collection services have been suspended because of potential slick road conditions from Sunday's snowfall. They also suspended Monday's services.

"Many area roads are slick, creating safety and access concerns for heavy trucks getting into tight spaces and traversing hills," the announcement said.

Select commercial services will be helped on Tuesday but with a delayed start.

"Commercial businesses and critical facilities will be prioritized for collection," the announcement said.

The city asks for these locations to ensure dumpsters are accessible and not blocked by snow piles or parked vehicles.

They will start full collection services again when road conditions are safe.

They advised residents to leave bins out if they have already put them by the curb, and they will be picked up once services resume.

If residents decide they do not want to wait for collection services to start again, they have access to two recycling drop-off facilities that are open every day of the week for 24 hours.

Contact the city at (479) 575-8398 or recyclingandtrash@fayetteville-ar.gov for additional questions.
