Fire that lit up Van Buren night sky under investigation by sheriff's office

VAN BUREN, Ark. — A large fire seen by residents in Van Buren lit up the sky starting late on Aug. 3.

Officials tell 5NEWS that multiple agencies responded to a fire at a pallet yard at 3236 Dora Road around 11 p.m., and the fire was put out by 3 a.m. on Aug. 4.

Fire Chief Dale Ingle told 5NEWS the fire is under investigation by the Crawford County Sheriff's Office (CCSO), who called the fire "suspicious."

CCSO said they usually deem large fires "suspicious," but they have nothing to report at this time.
